White Oak conserves and sustains some of the earth's rarest wild animals through innovative training, research, education, and conservation breeding programs that contribute to the survival of wildlife in nature.  The conservation programs span 600 acres along the St. Mary’s River in northeast Florida, surrounded by 17,000 acres of mixed forest and wetlands that make up the beautiful White Oak property.  Founded in 1982, White Oak leads professional efforts to improve veterinary care, develop holistic animal management techniques, and better understand the biology of critically endangered species by providing excellent care and managing conservation programs for over 30 species of imperiled wildlife in large, naturalistic habitats.   

Position Purpose:
The Bartender role is designed to deliver exceptional bar service, enhancing our guests' experience through beverages and engaging interaction while supporting the Food Service and Guest Relations teams as needed. This position plays a vital role in our hospitality team, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of our bar settings while highlighting our dedication to conservation. The ideal candidate will have a drive to develop their bartending craft, a passion for guest service, and create memorable moments for our guests by supporting our conservation mission with every pour.

Bartending Duties:

  • Under the direction of Management, staff bar based on guest activity, adapting shifts to meet guest needs and requests.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized bar display and ensure the cleanliness of the Bar, Patio, and service areas, including setup for guest arrivals.
  • Mix, garnish, and serve drinks according to standard and house recipes, while anticipating guest needs and managing drink orders efficiently.
  • Stock and maintain inventory of alcohol, mixers, glassware, and other service-related items, restocking as necessary, and informing Management of any necessary orders.
  • Coordinate with various departments for event specifics and provide seamless service by referencing agendas, and monitoring guest information.
  • Execute service at outdoor venues or mobile stations as required, including setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Handle POS transactions and maintain accurate consumption reports; assist in monthly alcohol inventory and ordering.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and establishment guidelines for service.
  • Perform all necessary opening and closing duties for the bar and related facilities, ensuring equipment like kegerators, ice bins, and coolers are maintained.
  • Prepare garnishes, manage waste disposal, and ensure a continuous supply of clean and buffed glassware.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Food Service:

  • Collaborate with supervisors, chefs, and team members to deliver professional food and beverage services following standard procedures, assist in staffing various service periods including coffee breaks, meals, receptions, and special events, participate in preparing and setting up venues by arranging linens, silverware, glassware, and chinaware according to event specifications, maintain thorough knowledge of all available food and beverage options, assist in stocking and unstocking guest lodges with required items, and adhere to food handling and safety procedures while maintaining cleanliness in service areas

Guest Relations:

  • Support guest-related activities, including providing general guest assistance, maintaining fires, and offering shuttles to and from lodges based on Guest Relations and F&B coverage. Coordinate with Guest Relations staff and guests regarding activity cooler preferences, deliver coolers to the activity location, assist Guest Relations staff in delivering coolers, and ensure alcohol accountability.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in bartending, food service, hospitality, or a related field.
  • General knowledge of bartending practices and procedures.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and may be subject to a background check.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, or crouch.
  • Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Working in both indoor and outdoor environments, potentially in temperatures exceeding 90 degrees.
