White Oak conserves and sustains some of the earth's rarest wild animals through innovative training, research, education, and conservation breeding programs that contribute to the survival of wildlife in nature. The conservation programs span 600 acres along the St. Mary’s River in northeast Florida, surrounded by 22,000 acres of mixed forest and wetlands that make up the beautiful White Oak property. Founded in 1982, White Oak leads professional efforts to improve veterinary care, develop holistic animal management techniques, and better understand the biology of critically endangered species by providing excellent care and managing conservation programs for over 30 species of imperiled wildlife in large, naturalistic habitats.

Job Summary:
The Pool and Spa Technician is responsible for the care of pools, spas, fountains, waterfalls, and water features on White Oak property and in Wildlife habitats. Maintain upkeep of pool facilities and decks property wide.
Essential Duties:
o Manages and maintains swimming pools and spas to ensure they are safe and clean for guest use.
o Tests water, handles and adds pool chemicals to maintain proper chemical balance and water quality.
o Maintains pools and all water features using proper chemicals and cleaners.
o Skims, brushes and vacuums pools and spas.
o Cleans and services swimming pool filtration units.
o Responds to swimming pool-related work orders in a timely and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery or equipment.
o Assess and fixes lights, drains, skimmers, tile, or other pool related items above and below water level.
o Maintains clean pump houses, pools, decks, pool furniture and surrounding areas.
o Fits and repairs pipes and plumbing for pools and spas.
o Performs minor repairs on pumps and pool equipment.
o Maintains records of water tests, chemical adjustments and other work performed for each pool and spa.
o Cleans and maintains pool decks, including outdoor furniture.
o Maintains exterior to include pressure washing buildings and boardwalks, etc.
o Performs landscape duties and operates riding mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, blowers, etc.
o Keeps grounds in a clean and orderly condition.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ general swimming pool maintenance in the field (or public pool service).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of proper pool cleaning and maintenance methods, including pool vacuum equipment use and service.
• Knowledge of pool pump maintenance and care.
• Knowledge of pool and spa safety and codes.
• Extensive knowledge of water testing, swimming pool chemicals and their use and properties.
• Mathematical skills.
• Ability to operate without direct supervision and be self-motivated, confident, and take pride in work.
• Flexibility in work hours and schedule.
• Dependable, trustworthy, and neatly groomed
Physical Requirements, Hazards, and Special Working Conditions:
• Job may occasionally require working long hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to work in outdoor environment subject to changing weather conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
• Must have valid Florida or Georgia drivers’ license.
